What is Capital Works?

Capital Works is a website that we have set up as a group of people affiliated with the Green Party and elected by the people of Wellington City to represent residents on the Wellington City Council and Greater Wellington Regional Council.

We are elected by the people of Wellington and we take that responsibility seriously. We are committed to representing you, the residents of this place and to making decisions in the best interests of this place and its people.

As Green Party members we are committed to honouring te Tiriti o Waitangi and to environmental and social progress where the people affected by decisions are part of those decisions.

Through our council work and all our decisions - including on budgets and plans like our Long Term Plans and Annual Plans - we strive to build meaningful partnerships with mana whenua. We work closely with the Pouiwi on Wellington City Council and on Greater Wellington Regional Council we established our te Tiriti o Waitangi Committee and we developed our Long Term Plan through a Committee with six mana whenua members representing each of the Iwi around the region. We know there’s a lot more work to do on this front and we are committed to doing that work.

We also work hard to build up our connections to communities and community groups and to build partnerships with a whole range of groups across Wellington, Whether it’s a sports club, friends of a stream or a beach, a residents’ group, business association, bus users’ group or any other group, we are keen to hear from you and work with you to get good stuff done in the city.
